Who am I?

My name is Khadis, from Purbalingga, Central Java, Indonesia. I have been a freelance translator since 2012. Previously, I did a number of voluntary translation jobs, mainly movie scripts (for subtitle) for CLC (Cinema Lovers Community), a local independent filmmakers community from Purbalingga.

I graduated from the graphic design and multimedia program department of LP3I (Indonesian Institute of Education and Profession Development) college in 2008. My passion for English and computer landed me a contributor post for several computer magazines and also local newspapers. This opened some other doors previously not known to me. First, a friend of mine, who is already a translator was interested in involving me in his project. It was a tiny project and then it grew bigger and bigger. The projects vary from game testing to engineering, from general to technical and legal texts. Now, that I have gained some relevant experiences, I dare myself to take this business more seriously. I started to learn online and offline platforms to get more exposed to working opportunities out there. I do paid projects regularly now. But, whenever I am not doing a paid project, I will revert to voluntary translation works, for charity causes, mostly, and write for my own blogs.

I believe that my experience and education background in computation fields will positively contribute to the products I offer in the new industry I am about to enter: translation. I am an active learner, have a ‘can-do’ attitude, and unquenchable thirst for knowledge and information, among the other aspects that the translation industry demands.

What is ActiveTranslation?

ActiveTranslation is my personal branding—not an agency—that mainly provides English to Indonesian translation and localization services on general business texts and any IT-related materials (computer software, internet, desktop publishing, etc.) including UI translation, web localization, and game translation.

My Background

I am an active learner, have a ‘can-do’ attitude, and unquenchable thirst for knowledge and information, among the other aspects that the translation industry demands.

Language Pair, Domains, Availability, and Rates

For now, the language pair I can handle is English to Indonesian (Bahasa Indonesia) while the fields of expertise of mine are general business text, technical (industrial machinery) translation, and IT-related material including UI translation, game localization, web localization, mobile apps localization, and DTP.

I am available from Monday to Friday, from 8 am to 5 pm (GMT +7). But I am a very flexible translator which is also available during the weekend and national holiday (except in some religious festive).

For the rate, I am sure that there are literally dozens of factors that affect translation rates and I’m afraid there is no such thing as a “one-fits-all” translation rate. But, whenever you have projects big or small with limited or unlimited budgets and need to hire a reliable translator, do not hesitate to contact me and let’s discuss the price. I accept payment (USD and EUR) both through PayPal and wire transfer.

My Projects

During my journey, I have done many translation projects and a few reviewing tasks. Here are the summaries:

1. Software / UI localization, > 15K words: Microsoft Dynamics, AviRecomp, OpenSignal, Avira Lingo, etc.
2. Website localization including social media and blog, > 70K words: Perl programming language blog, Pinterest, Youtube, etc.

4. Business and marketing texts (letters, promotion / brochure, market research, etc.), around 10K words: Disney, Daniel Wellington, Cheonan adv., etc.
5. Technical document (manual book and safety manual of industrial machinery, home appliances, and medical equipment), > 200K words: Sony, Nikon, Toyotanso, Sidel, DMG Mori, Keyence, Apple, etc.
6. Subtitling, > 10K words: documentary, fiction, profile.

To enhance translation process, achieve ultimate translation result, and to fulfill clients’ needs, I am geared with 2 units of middle-end Windows PC with multiple CAT tools such as:

Online translation platforms such as Wordfasr Anywhere, Google Translation Manager, and Motaword’s crowdsource-based platform are also not something new for me.
